From 11th January 2021 THH will no longer accept GP Direct Access referrals for Phlebotomy in the outpatient department at Hillingdon Hospital. Clinics will continue to run at Mount Vernon Hospital with additional capacity.
This situation has arisen due to increasing concerns about the high level of footfall and covid infection risk to patients attending the phlebotomy clinics.
Reduced waiting room space due to social distancing measures and longer slots required for phlebotomists to follow infection control procedures are creating lengthy queues which continue to grow and this was noted
at the hospitals recent CQC inspection.
The Hillingdon hospital site is particularly concerning because the Phlebotomy Clinics are based in the OP
department (MVH has a separate building).

sites:
